When a Bernese Mountain Dog with a tricolor coat of black, white, and brown, is crossed with a Standard Poodle or bernedooodle, which can carry genes for various coat colors, the bernedoodle puppies can inherit a variety of coat colors and patterns. There’s nothing wrong with having or desiring a beautiful dog with a certain look, but regardless of coloring, their health, temperament, and well-being should always the top priority. We love genetics and looking at the colors each pairing can create.

Tri Color Bernedoodle
The classic tri or tri color is a mix of black, brown, and white. This look is considered classic, because it looks similar to the bernese. A lot of families that we talk with absolutely love the Bernese for their loyal and gentle demeanor, but they don’t love the shedding. A bernedoodle allows them to have the best of both worlds, plus the added benefits of the poodle!
Merle Bernedoodle
A blue merle color bernedoodle has a grey base and a chocolate merle bernedoodle has a brown base.
Phantom Bernedoodle
A phantom bernedoodle has a two-tone coat pattern, our most common are black phantom, chocolate phantom and merle phantom. Black phantom is black and brown with a hint of white possible. Chocolate phantom is two distinct shades of brown sometimes with a bit of white. Merle phantom is merle with brown and a possible splash of white.
Sable Bernedoodle
A sable bernedoodle has a coat with various brown and red like shades, usually lighter at the roots and gradually darkening towards the tips, creating a multi-colored effect.
Red Bernedoodle
A red bernedoodle has a coat primarily reddish orange to tan in color with white as well.
Brown Bernedoodle (also known as a Chocolate Bernedoodle)
A brown bernedoodle, also referred to as a chocolate bernedoodle is primarily rich brown, but also includes lighter browns and whites as well. The same tri color look as the black tri color except the base is a darker brown color and not black.
